Morocco’s Aeronautics sector exported a total of 10.68 billion MAD in the first five months of 2024, representing a 17.6% increase year-on-year, according to the country’s foreign exchange regulator “Office des Changes.”
The performance was driven by a 27.8% rise in sales in the assembly segment to 6.9 billion MAD and a 2.2% rise in sales in the Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS) segment to 3.7 billion MAD, the Office pointed out in its latest bulletin.
Automotive exports increased by 12% to over 67.46 billion MAD at the end of May, driven by higher shipments in the construction segment (up 11.7% to 29.36 billion MAD).
The Office also reported that exports of phosphates and its derivatives increased by 5.3%, reflecting an increase in sales of natural and chemical fertilizers (+7.3%) and phosphates (+23%), as well as a decrease in sales of phosphoric acid (-11.2%).
Shipments in the electronics and electrical sector fell by 6.7% due to a 23% drop in sales of electronic components.
The textile and leather export sector also experienced a 4% decline, largely due to lower sales of footwear (-12.9%), ready-made garments (-3.6%), and legwear (-1.5%). In the agriculture and agri-food sector, exports fell by 0.7%.
