Morocco and Gambia signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday in Banjul to enhance cooperation in higher education and facilitate the mobility of students, researchers, and doctoral candidates.
Morocco’s Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, Abdellatif Miraoui and his Gambian counterpart, Pierre Gomez, signed the memorandum.
The partnership seeks to strengthen and support cooperation between the two countries, including exchanging best practices and sharing experiences under the Accelerated Plan for the Transformation of the Higher Education Ecosystem (PACTE ESRI-2030).
The agreement also will enhance skills by strengthening human capital development, and improving the quality of cross-disciplinary education, particularly in digital skills and information technology mastery.
Miraoui led a significant delegation on a working visit to the Gambia. Charge d’Affaires of the Moroccan Embassy in the Gambia Ahmed Belhaj attended the signing ceremony along with members of the delegation accompanying the minister.
University presidents from Morocco and the Gambia also held a meeting to discuss ways to enhance bilateral academic cooperation and initiatives to promote student and faculty researcher exchanges.
