In light of the onset of summer and rising temperatures, the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development has released a statement indicating that 97% of monitored beaches in June met swimming quality standards.
Of the 203 beaches surveyed, 198 were found to comply with the relevant standards, while only five were deemed non-compliant.
The number of beaches under surveillance has increased from 79 in 2003 to 196 in 2024. This has improved both the management of water quality and public access to information.
Those who appreciate spending time at the beach may access the results of the current summer season’s monitoring of swimming waters through the ministry’s regular updates and the website https://labo.environnement.gov.ma, as well as the mobile application ‘Iplages’, which provides real-time information on beach conditions.
