Minister of Energy Transition Leila Benali and Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar on Thursday signed two cooperation agreements in the sectors of energy, earth sciences, and mining.
The two agreements cover numerous topics, including renewable energies, green hydrogen, energy and efficiency.
Cooperation between the two parties in mining and earth sciences includes the creation of geological maps, remote sensing, as well as databases and geographic information systems (GIS) among others.
Both agreements establish a framework for collaboration to strengthen public-private partnerships, research and development, and technical assistance, among other areas to cooperate between innovation agencies and research organizations, technical visits, workshops, and seminars.
The Turkish minister said there are many opportunities for cooperation in energy and mining between the two countries, welcoming the historical and economic ties between Rabat and Ankara.
Benali stated that the meeting provided a chance to address Morocco and Turkey’s mutual concerns, as well as development potential and shared objectives in a variety of fields such as renewable energy, minerals, and natural gas.
Alparslan Bayraktar’s visit to Morocco is part of the ongoing consultation and coordination between the Kingdom and the Republic of Turkey, to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields by exploring new opportunities for cooperation and encouraging mutual investment.
The meeting was attended by Turkish Ambassador to Morocco Omer Faruk Dogan, as well as senior officials from the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, and its supervising bodies, including ONHYM, ONEE, MASEN, AMEE, and IRESEN.
