The Moroccan-German Multidimensional Strategic Dialogue held its inaugural session in Berlin on Friday, as planned by the Joint Morocco-German Declaration of August 25, 2022, with Ministers of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita and Annalena Baerbock of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The two ministers emphasized at the conclusion of this first Dialogue session that they are both interested in furthering the Joint Declaration’s implementation and bolstering the multifaceted relationship across all policy areas.
In this regard, they reiterated their willingness to strengthen bilateral economic and trade cooperation, emphasizing Morocco’s substantial investment potential, which is further underlined by the Moroccan Investment Charter.
The two ministers emphasized how they both want to increase communication in order to work together to address terrorism and other security issues, particularly within the Global Counterterrorism Forum and the Global Coalition against Islamic State (IS).
They emphasized that they will be stepping up their strategic collaboration in the areas of green hydrogen, renewable energy, biodiversity, and climate policy.
Bourita and Baerbock decided to fortify relations between peoples and encourage bilateral collaboration in the domains of academia and culture.
They also placed particular emphasis on promoting regional and international peace and security, and strengthening multilateral institutions.
The Multidimensional Strategic Dialogue is held once every two years, alternately between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Federal Republic of Germany, and is chaired by the Foreign Ministers of both countries.
This Strategic Dialogue is based on shared values and mutual respect, with the aim of establishing the principles and foundations of relations between Morocco and Germany, defining the bases on which they will be developed, and safeguarding the priority interests of both parties.
It provides a foundation upon which to advance bilateral ties and fortify the unity among the various spheres of bilateral cooperation.
The meeting serves as a forum for conversation and cooperation on strategic issues of shared concern, such as problems with international and regional security and development.
