German Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said on Friday in Berlin that Germany supports the Moroccan autonomy plan as “a solid basis and a very good foundation for the final settlement” of the Moroccan Sahara issue.
Speaking at a press conference following the first session of the bilateral strategic dialogue between Morocco and Germany, which she co-chaired with Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, Baerbock Highlighted the importance of the Moroccan autonomy effort.
The German minister reaffirmed her country’s support for UN initiatives aimed at resolving the Sahara problem through diplomacy.
The first meeting of the bilateral strategic dialogue between Bourita and Baerbock took place on Friday, after the joint statement that was agreed upon during Baerbock’s August 25, 2022, visit to Morocco.
