Director General of National Police (DGSN) and Territory Surveillance (DGST) Abdellatif Hammouchi paid a working trip to Frane on June 26-28 at an invitation from his French security peers in both internal and external security services a few weeks before the 2024 Paris Olympics.
These talks focused on examining mechanisms for strengthening bilateral cooperation in various security fields of common interest.
Hammouchi held a series of meetings and discussions with, respectively, Celine Berthon, Director General of Internal Security (DGSI), and Nicolas Lerner, Director General of External Security (DGSE), focusing on ways to promote bilateral cooperation in the fight against terrorism and organized crime, and to raise levels of coordination and exchange of intelligence and operational data concerning the various threats emanating from extremist organizations and transnational crime networks.
He had significant talks with Director General of the French National Police (DGPN), Fréderic Veaux, in the presence of a large delegation from the DGSN, during which the two parties reviewed advanced cooperation and coordination mechanisms in various security fields, particularly the implementation of proactive risk assessment and information exchange mechanisms during their joint action to secure the Paris-2024 Olympic Games.
Hammouchi was awarded the Gold Medal of Honor from the French National Police in appreciation of his efforts to strengthen and develop collaborative security cooperation.
It demonstrates the need of increasing security cooperation between Morocco and France, who are both involved in various bilateral action and coordination programs and face common security problems, according to the same source.
This visit is also part of the DGSN and DGST services’ commitment to the international security cooperation system, which aims to provide an effective contribution to the eradication of terrorist and criminal dangers and threats on a regional and international scale.
