Moroccan cyclist Haitham El-Amraoui on Wednesday won the gold medal in the individual pursuit on the track (G1 category), as part of the African para-cycling championships, held on June 26-29 in Cairo.
His compatriot Mohammed Bouchfar got the bronze medal in the G2 individual pursuit.
The track races for the continental competition are scheduled for June 26-27, while road races will take place on June 28-29.
El-Amraoui is the reigning African champion in the road race (G1 category), a title he won at the 2023 edition held in Accra, Ghana, while Bouchfar won gold in the time trial (G2 category).
A total of 55 cyclists take part in this sporting event in Egypt’s capital, representing six countries: Egypt, Morocco, Kenya, Senegal, Mauritius, and Nigeria.
