Morocco’s Administration of Customs and Indirect Taxes (ADII) announced that it will impose a provisional anti-dumping duty starting from Tuesday on all electric ovens imported from Turkey for the next six months. The decision follows a joint decree from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
Morocco’s current anti-dumping duty stands at 34.05% for ovens of the Turkish brand Itimat and 62.07% for other Turkish brands. The collected amounts and the applicable Value Added Tax (VAT) are deposited with the customs receivers.
The implementation of the new measure stems from an investigation done by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, which revealed instances of dumping by Turkish electric oven producers and exporters in the Moroccan market. The new anti-dumping rates were determined at 34.05% for Itimat and 71.43% for other brands.
The investigation also revealed a significant increase in imports of Turkish electric ovens between January 2019 and June 2023. This surge has impacted the prices of locally produced ovens and has led to the deterioration of economic and financial indicators for national manufacturers.
