Italian Police have arrested in Verona six Moroccan nationals who allegedly tortured a 26-year-old compatriot, according to Il Gazzettino.
The accused, all undocumented immigrants, targeted the victim after he reported them for attacking two Somali nationals ten days ago.
During the initial assault, one of the Somalis drowned in the Camuzzoni Canal while attempting to flee his assailants.
In retribution, the group lured the young man into an abandoned building. They then subjected him to grave brutality.
After arresting the first five suspects on June 4, police tracked down the final member, a 23-year-old, by monitoring phone calls.
The final suspect was detained carrying 1,500 euros in cash, a knife, and two phones, all of which were suspected to be related to illegal activities.
All six suspects are in custody, facing allegations of torture, aggravated robbery, and severe bodily injury.
