Moroccan player Soufiane Rahimi is on the verge of joining Al-Ittihad, a club based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, a report by Alkhaleej’s outlet said on Monday.
The Moroccan player has grabbed the Saudi club’s attention, as a top scorer in the Asian Champions League with 13 goals. Al-Ittihad is reportedly offering Rahimi a tempting 20- Mln dollar deal in return for a 3-year commitment, despite his current contract with Al Ain, which runs until 2026.
Rahimi’s arrival could be advantageous for the club’s attacking side, if Rahimi signs, he will join French Karim Benzema and Moroccan Abderrazak Hamdallah.
Last season, the Atlas Lion was a key figure for Al Ain, scoring 23 goals and providing 13 assists.
His performance has boosted his market value, now estimated at 8 Mln euros ($8.5 Mln), according to Transfermarkt.
Rahimi played at Morocco’s Raja of Casablanca club from 2006 until 2021, with a one-year loan to the “Etoile Sportive de Casablanca” in the 2017-2018 season.
Rahimi’s current team will face his very first club, Raja, in August at a pre-season match in Morocco, among other clubs.
