Members of Parliament from the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM- in government ) have threatened to collectively resign if the head of the party’s general directorate, Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, does not step in to resolve internal conflicts and put an end to the actions of certain leaders, Moroccan newspaper Assabah reported on Tuesday.
According to several members of parliament, the party’s organizational structure has deteriorated due to “takeover attempts” by certain new leaders, which they say create the impression that the PAM has become a “private domain.”
The anger is particularly apparent in the Casablanca-Settat region, where members of parliament have repeatedly threatened to leave the party if El Mansouri does not take measures to control a particular leader they accuse of “paralyzing” the party and engaging in “childish vendettas.”
Since the election of PAM’s leadership, conflicts have erupted in several regional divisions of the party, particularly in Casablanca, Tangier, Beni Mellal, and Fes.
Activists have called for El Mansouri’s intervention to oversee some influential elected officials who allegedly are using her name to influence real estate developers to resolve their own development issues.
