“Filles Club Saïdia” (Saïdia’s Girls Club), in partnership with the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), will hold the first-ever international women’s beach football competition in Morocco’s northeastern resort town of Saïdia on July 10-14.
The tournament, commemorating the 25th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne, will feature four national teams: the AS FAR, the Association Municipal Laâyoune, the Renaissance Sportive de Berkane, and the Filles Club Saïdia.
The competition will also feature four European teams: “New Team Beach football” from Belgium, “Marseille Beach Team” from France, “Enpie Malaga Beach football” from Spain, and “Gruopo Deportivo de Ilha” from Portugal.
“This sporting competition, the first of its kind at the national level, stems from the driving desire to mobilize Moroccan society to ensure a successful 2030 World Cup, as part of Morocco’s promising national sports policy,” the organizers said.
Competing teams will participate in other parallel events designed to promote both tourism in Saïdia and the region’s socio-economic development.
A women’s football match for individuals with special needs will also be held as a prelude to the final tournament.
