Since its launch in 2022, Morocco’s government employment program “Awrach” has provided employment for more than 231,000 young people, Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills Younes Sekkouri said.
Speaking at the House of Representatives’ question time, the minister pointed out that 50,000 young people have participated in workshops (“awrach” means workshop) designed to support sustainable inclusion efforts, as part of the program’s goals of enhancing incomes and integrating more youth in the job market
To support the program, the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills was totally reorganized and plans to integrate a further 80,000 young people and enhance the employability of 500,000 more job seekers, he noted.
The 2022-2023 program was carried out under “Awrach” contracts, which were concluded by associations, cooperatives and companies, through applications and work contracts, especially in favor of people who have lost their jobs due to the Covid-19 pandemic and those who have difficulties in accessing the labor market, without eligibility requirements.
The program “Awrach”, to which the government allocated a budget of 2.25 billion dirhams for the year 2022, is part of the operationalization of the 2021-2026 government program regarding the support of people who lost their jobs and face difficulties of access to employment opportunities.
