Moroccan parliamentarians are taking part in the 3rd ordinary session of the 6th legislature of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP), the legislative arm of the African Union (AU), which kicked off on Monday at the institution’s headquarters in Johannesburg.
The Moroccan Parliament is represented by Hanaa Benkhair of the General Union of Morocco’s Workers (UGTM), Laila Dahi of the National Rally of Independents (RNI), Khadija Arouhal of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS) and Abdessamad Haiker of the Justice and Development Party (PJD).
This session, to run until July 5, is convened under the African Union theme for 2024: “Educate an African Fit for the 21st Century: Building Resilient Education Systems for Increased Access to Inclusive, Lifelong, Quality, and Relevant Learning in Africa.”
During this session, the eleven Permanent Committees of Parliament are scheduled to meet during this statutory meeting of the Continental Parliament.
In addition to pan-African MPs, this ordinary session will be attended by government representatives, civil society organizations, academics, African Union bodies and institutions, UN agencies and the diplomatic corps.
