Jordan Football Association (JFA) approved to terminate the contract of coach Hussein Ammouta and his staff with the national team by mutual consent. The association did not reveal the reasons for Ammouta’s departure.
“The JFA expresses its deep pride and appreciation for the period during which Moroccan coach Hussein Ammouta led the national team,” the Association wrote.
“His and his assistant staff’s great efforts and contributions significantly advanced Jordanian football, culminating in a historic second-place finish in the 2023 Asian Cup and qualifying for the decisive round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, where the team deservedly ranked first in its group.”
“The JFA confirms that the achievements achieved under Ammouta’s leadership will always be appreciated by the Jordanian football family and the Jordanian fans.”
The association also announced that Moroccan coach Jamal Sellami will become the new technical director of the national team and will lead the squad in the World Cup qualifiers in September and the 2027 AFC Asian Cup finals in Saudi Arabia early next year.
The federation will officially introduce Sellami as the new coach for Nashama before the end of this month.
