Morocco jumped to the 31st spot in the 2023 world tourism revenue rankings, climbing 10 places from 41st place before the pandemic.
The international tourism receipts reached 1,700 Bln dollars in 2023, around 96% of pre-pandemic levels, according to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
This remarkable rebound demonstrates the tourism sector’s ability to recover quickly and play a crucial role in global economic recovery.
The United States remains the world leader in tourism receipts, with 176 billion dollars, followed by Spain (92 billion dollars).
Morocco thus ranks among the most attractive tourist destinations in Africa and the Arab world.
This performance is the result of the Moroccan authorities’ attempts to market Morocco as a prime tourism destination.
Morocco’s attraction has been boosted by the implementation of an ambitious tourism plan, the construction of modern infrastructure and diverse tourism goods, and the preservation of the country’s rich cultural and natural heritage.
Morocco’s tourism industry appears to be improving, with hopeful estimates for 2024.
