Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska praised the “excellent coordination” between Spain and Morocco in the Marhaba 2024 Operation.
Speaking during his visit to Algeciras port on Monday, Grande-Marlaska stressed the importance of both countries’ coordination and resource mobilization to ensure the operation’s success.
He noted that Morocco and Spain have developed a strong framework and have mobilized all required human resources to ensure the success of this large-scale operation. “All the teams involved are doing an extraordinary job to ensure that this operation continues to be a success,” the minister underlined.
The operation is set to handle a record number of passengers and vehicles this year.
Grande-Marlaska expressed confidence that robust coordination between Moroccan and Spanish authorities would allow for effective handling of these unprecedented numbers.
The Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, founded under King Mohammed VI’s presidency, launched the 24th edition of the Marhaba operation on June 5 and will run until September 15.
This program intends to make it easier for Moroccans who live abroad to arrive and return home.
The Foundation has created a complete receiving system, which is currently operational in Morocco, France, Spain and Italy.
This system is designed to provide support and help to community members throughout their trip, incorporating various measures and arrangements established by the relevant stakeholders to ensure the operation’s overall success.
