Softgroup Immobilier and Emirates Logistics Group on Friday launched a 35,000-square-meter logistics platform in the Kenitra Atlantic Free Zone (AFZ), 40km north of Rabat.
Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohammed Abdeljalil, UAE Ambassador to Morocco, Al Asri Saeed Ahmed Al Dhaheri, and Governor of Kenitra Province, Fouad M’Hamdi attended the ceremony.
This logistics platform is the fruit of a collaboration between two private groups, namely Softgroup, a major player in the logistics field in Morocco, and the Emirates Logistics Group, to build logistics zones, Abdeljalil said.
The minister added that this platform, which is part of a proactive logistics investment program, will help to improve logistics performance, key to the country’s economic policy, adding that his department aims to increase operations aimed at developing more logistics zones, accelerating their development in all regions, and promoting their economic attractiveness and logistical competitiveness.
This logistics platform reflects “an ambition and a vision for Kénitra”, Managing Director of Emirates Logistics, Frédéric Ricci, said, adding that the aim is to create high value-added service zones in the field of logistics and supply and import chains.
The platform is the result of cooperation and coordination between two companies, namely Softgroup Immobilier, which is creating a high-quality infrastructure, and “our company, which supplies the logistics kit”, he concluded.
Emirates Logistics Group envisions to develop Morocco as warehousing and distribution hub for North and West Africa regions.
