Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries have reiterated their support for the Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara and the Kingdom’s territorial integrity.
In a statement read out by the representative of Qatar on behalf of the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Oman during the regular session of the UN Committee of 24 (C24), GCC countries reiterated their “steadfast decisions in support of the Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara and the preservation of Morocco’s security, stability and territorial integrity.”
In that regard, the GCC welcomed the latest UN Security Council resolutions on the Moroccan Sahara.
GCC states expressed their support for all the efforts made by Morocco and the international community to reach a peaceful solution to this regional dispute, recalling the importance for all parties to display wisdom, dialog and a spirit of compromise.
The GCC also stressed that resolving this dispute would contribute to peace and stability in the region.
The six countries also hailed the “special strategic partnership” between the Council and the Kingdom of Morocco, calling for implementing the joint action plan.
