Morocco faced more than 52 million cyber threats during 2023, according to a recent report by tech giant Trend Micro, an American-Japanese cyber security software company, according to its press release.
Among the threats, Trend Micro prevented over 40 million e-mail threats and over 1.6 million malicious URL attacks, in addition to over 3.7 million malware attacks.
In the findings of its annual cybersecurity 2023 report, entitled “Calibrating Expansion,” Trend Micro revealed that it stopped over 161 billion security threats worldwide last year, an increase of 10% year-on-year.
The report also noted a 349% increase in email malware detection worldwide.
In light of the rising number of cyber threats globally, Trend Micro explained that cybercriminals are employing increasingly sophisticated tactics to target a smaller number of victims, which could potentially yield larger financial profits.
The report claims to “serve as a compelling reminder that enterprises must maintain a proactive approach in managing risks across the entire attack surface in today’s dynamic cybersecurity landscape.”
