Morocco’s national police on Wednesday busted a network involved in illegal immigration and human trafficking in the central city of El Jadida, according to security sources.
The police arrested six alleged members of the criminal organization in the rural municipality of Tnin Chtouka, red-handed as they were preparing to illegally smuggle four individuals into the country.
These individuals, aged between 16 and 26, were staying in the rural area of Moulay Abdellah, on the outskirts of El Jadida.
During the operation, police seized three vehicles, a rubber boat, a boat engine, three air pumps, and a bladed weapon, along with a sum of money that is believed to be the proceeds from their criminal activities.
The suspects, aged between 24 and 30, are now in custody pending further investigation under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office.
