The youngest son of Abdellah Boutani, the national secretary of Algerian political party Rally for Culture and Democracy (RCD), was recently killed in a “terrorist attack” on the Algerian-Malian border.
Boutani, from one of the main opposition parties in Algeria, lost his youngest son in an assassination near the Mali border, carried out by “an Islamic terrorist horde,” RCD said in a post on Facebook.
The party did not hesitate to point out the Algerian army’s incompetence in establishing security along the border with Mali.
“This tragedy reminds us that the security situation at our borders is far from under control and that the threats remain worrying,” RCD denounced.
This assassination comes less than a month after a fiery statement about the Algerian president made by RCD leader Atmane Mazouz.
Mazouz stated in early May that Abdelmadjid Tebboune “is not the president of the Republic and lacks legitimacy,” during an interview with an Algerian media outlet.
