Former Guinea Prime minister Kabiné Komara has called for promoting local mediation to prevent contagious conflicts in Africa.
“Conflicts and wars are contiguous phenomena. A conflict in an area will inevitably spread to neighboring countries,” Komara told Barlaman Today, on the sidelines of the 8th African Peace and Security Annual Conference (APSACO), held on June 10-11 in Rabat.
Highlighting the importance of local mediation in offering opportunities to sustain peace and prevent or reduce violence, the former Prime minister, who converted to peace mediation, called upon neighboring countries to join efforts to contain the crisis before it becomes contagious.
“When a fire breaks out in one village, the neighboring villages have to put it out because their turn will next,” he pointed out.
In this regard, Komara underlined that “peace is a collective responsibility that benefits everyone,” Komara said.
