The Moroccan National Muaythai team harvested five medals at the World Championships, held from May 30 to June 10 in the Greek city of Patras, with a tally of three gold medals, one silver and one bronze.
At the event held by the International Federation of Muay Thai Associations (IFMA), Morocco’s Khaoula Daakani (+75 kg), Soumia Tlaoui (-71 kg) and Kaltoum Akhlouf (-48 kg) all won gold medals. Kaltoum was named the best woman player during the championship.
The Moroccan champion was picked for her continued success in maintaining the world title she won during the last world championship, held last year in Bangkok, Thailand.
Douaa Akhlouf (-60 kg) took home the silver medal, while Mohamed Yassine Mahssoune earned the bronze medal (-67 kg).
Moroccan referees also participated in the championships, with Hicham Jouabri and Mustapha Ghename representing the kingdom.
