Morocco’s Oussama Khafi won the eighth stage of the 33rd Morocco Cycling Tour, while Eritrean Natnael Berhane kept the leader’s yellow jersey in a hard-fought competition held between Fez and Meknes, on Friday.
Khafi completed the 147.3 km of the stage in 3h 33:01, finishing ahead of his fellow Moroccan Ibrahim Sabahi by one second and France’s Benjamin Marais.
French cyclist Rayan Boulahoite was the winner of the 7th stage (over 147.3 km), held between Beni Mellal and Khenifra on Thursday.
The ninth and penultimate stage of the race, scheduled for Saturday, covers 134.1 km from Meknes to Rabat. The route will pass through Khemisset, Tiflet, Sidi Allal El Bahraoui, and Salé.
The Royal Moroccan Cycling Federation (FRMC) is hosting the sports event from May 31 to June 9, with a total of 18 national teams and cycling clubs participating in the tournament.
