The Policy Center for the New South (PCNS), a Moroccan think tank, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) have joined forces to promote “inclusive and sustainable industrial development in developing countries and countries with economies in transition,” according to a PCNS press release.
PCNS represented by Karim El Aynaoui, Executive President, and Hanan Hanzaz, UNIDO’s Director General Special Representative for the Arab Region and Chief of the Regional Bureau for Arab States, signed the partnership, on Thursday at the PCNS headquarters in Rabat.
The document is meant to facilitate collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including “industrial policies and strategies, structural change and productivity, industrial decarbonization, sustainable supply chains, and the circular economy.”
The agreement also covers “science, technology, innovation, digitalization, the future of industries in the context of artificial intelligence, and climate change mitigation methods.”
According to the organizations, this collaboration reflects their dedication “to fostering inclusive and sustainable industrial growth,” as well as “promoting economic and social progress.”
The industrial growth of the most vulnerable Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) is also a target for this alliance.
PCNS works to develop economic and social public policies that challenge Morocco and the rest of Africa. The think tank publishes research and hosts dialogues such as “The Atlantic Dialogue.”
