The first day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the last month in the Islamic calendar, will fall on June 8. This means that Eid al-Adha or feast of sacrifice will occur on June 17, Morocco’s Ministry of Endowment and Islamic Affairs announced on Friday.
The ministry stated that the crescent moon, marking the beginning of the month of Du al-Hijjah, was sighted after today’s al-Maghrib prayer.
The statement added that delegates from the ministry and military units involved in the observations had confirmed the sighting of the crescent moon.
Therefore, as the month of Dhu al-Qa’dah, 1445 H is counted as 29 days, Du al-Hijjah begins on Saturday, and Eid al-Adha consequently falls on Monday, June 17, 2024.
