Morocco beat Zambia 2-1 on Friday evening at Adrar Stadium in Agadir (600km south of Rabat), in the 3rd day of Group E of the African 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Six minutes into the game, Morocco’s wizard Hakim Ziyech opened the scoring for the Atlas Lions, before the 19-year-old midfielder Eliesse Ben Seghir added the second goal in the 67th minute.
Zambian striker Edward Chilufya, who had just come on as a substitute, struck a low drive into the nets to reduce the deficit in the 80th minute.
Thanks to this small win, Morocco consolidates its position at the top of Group E with six points from two games.
The Atlas Lions made a successful start to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Tanzania (2-0) in November 2023.
In their next game, Morocco will play Congo Brazzaville on June 11 at the same stadium.
