Morocco’s Olympic Football Team on Tuesday battled to a 2-2 draw in a hard-fought friendly game against Belgium’s Red Devils, as part of the preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Atlas Cubs’ goals were scored in the second half of the game, held at Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat, by Yassine Kechta (63rd) and Mehdi Maouhoub (90th).
Morocco is participating in the Olympics for the eighth time, filled with a strong desire to improve their best-ever Olympic result, a seventh-place finish at Munich in 1972.
The Moroccan team secured its place in the tournament after defeating Egypt 2-1 in the Africa U23 Cup of Nations final, held last July at the Rabat Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
Paris 2024 Olympic Games will take place from July 24 to August 10. Morocco will play Argentina, Ukraine and Iraq in the group stage of the tournament.
