America’s Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, expressed “gratitude” on behalf of the U.S. to King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, for Morocco’s humanitarian contributions to Gaza.
Blinken conveyed his appreciation during a phone conversation with Morocco’s Foreign Minister (FM) Nasser Bourita on Monday. The two officials also discussed the proposal that hopes to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and secure the release of all hostages, according to the U.S. Department of State.
The U.S. Secretary stressed that the proposal would be beneficial to both Palestinians and Israelis by allowing a surge in humanitarian aid into Gaza, allowing displaced people to return to other locations throughout Gaza, and allowing international rebuilding operations to begin.
During the conversation, Blinken underscored the importance of supporting this proposal to build a more integrated, peaceful, and stable Middle East region.
Secretary Blinken and Bourita agreed to coordinate closely to advance regional peace and security, following their recent discussion.
Morocco’s Foreign Ministry issued a press release yesterday emphasizing the importance of U.S. President Joe Biden’s proposals for promoting a long-term ceasefire in Gaza, access to humanitarian aid, civilian protection, the return of displaced people, and the reconstruction of destroyed areas, said
The Kingdom believes that all parties involved will support Biden’s project and commit to implementing its various stages.
Morocco reiterated its support for a two-state solution as an effective way to reach lasting peace in the Middle East: a Palestinian State on the boundaries of June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, coexisting alongside an Israeli State.
