Morocco’s travel revenues reached 31.9 billion MAD at the end of April 2024, a substantial 10.6% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy.
Reflecting the healthy surge in tourism, travel expenses for April totaled a substantial 8 billion MAD.
Minister of Tourism, Fatim-Zahra Ammor explained that the increase in tourism revenues in April was “predictable based on the number of arrivals, which demonstrates that Morocco remains a highly desirable destination capable of generating significant revenues.”
In addition, the tourism sector’s representative noted: “We will continue to enhance our product offering, particularly by diversifying leisure activities, to reach our target of 120 billion MAD by 2026.” Ammor described tourism as a “vital component” of Morocco’s economy, and “we are committed to further strengthening its contribution,” she concluded.
In early May, the Ministry of Tourism announced that April saw a 17% increase in visitors to the Kingdom compared to last year. The growth was attributed to a 15% rise in foreign tourists and a 20% increase in Moroccan expatriate visitation.
In the first quarter of 2024, Morocco welcomed 4.6 million visitors, with 567,000 arrivals, representing a 14% increase compared to the end of April 2023.
