Morocco’s King Mohammed VI appointed, in accordance with Article 49 of the Constitution, new heads to five public institutions on Saturday at the Royal Palace in Casablanca.
During a ministerial meeting chaired by the Monarch on the adoption of the Strategic Guidelines of the State’s shareholding policy, a draft organic law, and several decrees relating to the military domain, King Mohammed VI appointed Mustapha Farès as Director General of the National Ports Agency (ANP) and Mohammed Cherkaoui Eddeqaqi as Managing Director of Moroccan Highway Company (ADM).
The King also appointed Tarik Hammane as the Managing Director of the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE); Tarik Moufaddal as CEO of the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN); and Adil El Fakir as Managing Director of the National Airports Office (ONDA).
The Council of Ministers examined and approved a draft organic law on adding six new establishments to the list of strategic public institutions, including the Grand Atlas Development Agency, The National Social Assistance Agency, the High Health Authority, the Territorial Health Groupings, the Moroccan Agency for Medicines and Health Products, and the Moroccan Blood and Derivatives Agency.
The Grand Atlas Development Agency will focus on the development and enhancement of the Grand Atlas region, promoting economic growth and improving infrastructure; while the National Social Assistance Agency will provide social support and services and address social welfare and assistance programs.
The High Health Authority will oversee health services and policies, ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare to the population. The Territorial Health Groupings will manage and coordinate healthcare services territorially, promoting efficiency and accessibility to health services. The Moroccan Agency for Medicines and Health Products will be in charge of regulating and supervising the safety, efficacy, and quality of medicines and health products.
The Moroccan Blood and Derivatives Agency will oversee blood donation, transfusion services, and the management of blood-related products, ensuring a safe and reliable blood supply.
During the meeting, Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fettah presented a comprehensive overview of the strategic guidelines for the state’s shareholding policy, focusing on the reform of public establishments and enterprises to restructure the public portfolio, improve its management, and implement key sectoral reforms to ensure accessible and high-quality public services.
The council also approved four military-related decrees seeking to enhance the professional and social conditions of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR). These decrees include the creation of industrial defense acceleration zones, changes to the status of medical, pharmacy, and dental academic staff, the inclusion of the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the national hydrography, oceanography, and marine cartography coordination committee, and the establishment of a military attaché position at the Moroccan Embassy in Brazil.
