The National Tourism Office (ONMT) held a Light Tour in Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo, and Stockholm from May 27-30 to promote Agadir as a preferred destination for Scandinavian travelers.
ONMT is seeking to position Morocco, particularly Agadir, as an ideal travel spot for Scandinavian visitors, especially in winter, and to significantly increase their arrivals to the city. 150 Scandinavian operators were contacted during the Light Tour, ONMT said in a press release.
Around 15 Moroccan operators participated in the tour to exchange with their Nordic counterparts, especially with ONMT’s new connections with Norwegian and Scandinavian Airlines.
ONMT has doubled the air capacity from Scandinavia for the 2024 winter. Seven new routes will be opened with Norwegian Airlines from Northern European markets, including four to Agadir and three to Marrakech.
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has also doubled its flight frequency to Agadir from Copenhagen.
21 direct weekly flights will be operated between Morocco and the four Scandinavian capitals of Stockholm, Copenhagen, Helsinki, and Oslo.
The North African country will also have its first direct flight to Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland; Riga, the capital of Latvia; and Gothenburg, Sweden’s second-largest city on the west coast.
The Scandinavian outbound travel market exceeds 20 million for a total population of 26 million inhabitants.
