French newspaper “LeFigaro” published a feature on Wednesday highlighting five hotels in the Taghazout area on the southern central coast of Morocco, just 40 minutes north of Agadir, where visitors can enjoy the splendor of the beaches and Morocco’s temperate climate.
One of the best destinations in Morocco for surf, yoga, and bohemian lovers, Taghazout village is unbeatable and incomparable to any other spot.
Hotel “Amouage by Surf Maroc,” located at the northern tip of the village, is said to be one of the world’s most famous spots, with its long, breaking waves popular with experienced surfers.
With a dormitory or double room, guest have a choice of 26 rooms, some with ocean views. Surf Maroc has become a benchmark for surfing holidays and yoga retreats of various types from Yin yoga to Vinyasa flow.
The nightly rate starts at 135 euros, including breakfast, and yoga classes are 15 euros an hour.
Hotel “Wow the surf house”, with a magnificent ocean view, is located at the heart of Taghazout. This hotel features seven well-appointed rooms in a clean, traditional style with furniture, carpets, and fabrics in vibrant colors, made from recycled materials, crafted by local artisans.
Here, visitors live between the rhythm of the tides and encounters with surfing enthusiasts. The restaurant on the terrace is a popular spot for travelers and locals alike, offering affordable dishes and live music.
Rates run from 115 euros per night in a double room, to 525 euros per person for the 5-night “surf and yoga” package with ½ board, transporation, surf and yoga lessons, and equipment included. The minimum stay for the surf package is five nights.“Seaside Hotel by Dfrost Almugar” is owned by a native of Taghazout and his partner who has roots in Germany, Italy, and Switzerland. With the name of the hotel having meaning in both English (“to thaw”) and Tamazight (“meeting place”), they have created Seaside as a boutique hotel with 12 rooms to share (or not) right on the water as the perfect place to bring together travelers from all horizons searching for good vibes. The vibrant heart of the hotel, the Kitchen Club Restaurant and Bar (Mediterranean and Lebanese cuisine), attracts residents and locals alike.
Prices start from 490 euros per person per week for bed and breakfast, 560 euros for surf and stay, 700 euros for surf and coaching, and 735 euros for surf and yoga.
“Surf and Friends Lodge,” a beautiful hotel also in the heart of Taghazout with 14 rooms, including 9 doubles, 3 family rooms, and a comfortable dormitory, are all nicely decorated in a sombre colors, brightened up with nods to local craftsmanship, wood panels on the walls, cushion covers in colorful fabrics, straw hats, etc.
The hotel features a collection of terraces for every occasion, with a pool for lounging, snacking and watching the sun set over the bay, a restaurant area for breakfast and dinner featuring Moroccan cuisine, and a yoga shala.
During school breaks, a 7-night “surf & stretch” package costs 490 euros per person and includes shuttles from Agadir airport, half-board, surf lessons, equipment and transfers, picnic lunches, and yoga sessions. Double rooms start at 385 euros per night for two people.
Finally, “Munga Guest House,” features incredible wood decoration transformed into doors, pillars, tables, and sculptures, and a love of art that unfolds before you at every corner.
The most desirable location in Taghazout, is Munga Guest House and it includes 15 luxurious suites (ranging in size from 35 square meters for mini-suites to more than 100 square meters for “magnums”) that are lavishly furnished and evoke both Moroccan culture and its exotic illusions.
With a minimum stay of three nights, prices range from 150 euros for a mini-suite for two, to 180 euros for a suite, and 190 euros for a magnum, all of which include breakfast.
