The second edition of Gitex Africa, the largest tech and startup event in Africa, commenced on Wednesday in Marrakech with the participation of over 1,500 exhibitors representing more than 130 countries, according to news agency MAP.
This event is in essence a global showcase for technology, innovation, and networking. It provides an opportunity for participants to share their knowledge and expertise regarding three major themes: “Building a Unified Digital Africa,” “Connectivity,” and “Digital Cities.”
A one-stop platform for developing and accelerating startups and innovative small and medium enterprises (SMEs) on an international stage, Gitex Africa is designed to serve as a hub for the growing tech industry in Africa. It promotes the exchange of advancements in artificial intelligence, healthcare, and cybersecurity, among other sectors.
Hosted by Kaoun International, Dubai World Trade Centre’s international subsidiary, and sponsored by the Digital Development Agency under the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, several key dignitaries have already made their presence at the tech show. These individuals have included world-renowned experts and specialists, as well as political decision-makers, governmental figures, and media representatives.
The 2024 exhibition will also feature the “World Health Future,” an event dedicated to showcasing the latest innovations in the healthcare sector. It will include contributions from leading international startups specializing in digital health to foster the growth of this sector in Africa.
