The Bayt Mal Al Quds Agency (BMAQ), an arm of the Al Quds Committee, unveiled its 2024-2027 digital strategy at a ceremony held in Casablanca on Monday.
Launched under the banner “Digital Development at the Service of Socio-Economic Development in Al Quds,” the strategy is designed to reinforce BMAQ’s internal digital capacity, thereby facilitating its digital transition and youth with the necessary computer and other skills to launch income-generating projects.
In addition to its digitalization strategy, BMAQ has announced the creation of the “BMAQ Innovation Hub,” a startup incubator project for young people in Al-Quds.
During the unveiling ceremony, BMAQ entered into additional agreements to provide funding for a grant program under its digital initiative to support young Palestinian entrepreneurs and start-up companies.
“The accelerated digitization and rapid pace of technological transition pose significant challenges for start-ups seeking growth, stability, and sustainability,” Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, BMAQ’s Director of Management, stated. “However, they also offer immense opportunities for young people to assert themselves in a changing world.”
BMAQ’s digital strategy, developed through the collaboration of Moroccan and Palestinian institutions, will enhance adaptability and innovation among young people in Al Quds, benefiting not only young entrepreneurs but also all segments of Palestinian society, Cherkaoui said.
Ihab Nasser-Eddine, Head of the Palestinian business delegation, said he was pleased to be able to participate in BMAQ’s digital strategy program for the next three years.
“The agency will provide financial backing and specialized training to young Palestinians who are pioneers of the digital economy,” he said.
Key dignitaries including, Latifa El Bouabdellaoui, Director General of the Islamic Center for Trade Development, affiliated with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC); Ismail Kabbaj, Director of the National School of Business and Management (ENCG) of Casablanca; and a host of diplomatic, political and media representatives, attended the event.
BMAQ is a quasi-governmental institution that is focused on humanitarian and social issues in Al Quds (Arabic name of Jerusalem). Established in 1998 under the presidency of King Mohammed VI, BMAQ operates under the Al-Quds Committee to safeguard the holy city of Al-Quds, preserving its religious and cultural heritage, and providing support to its inhabitants.
