An awards ceremony was held on Sunday in Rabat to celebrate the winners of the video game competitions at the first edition of Morocco Gaming Expo 2024, held in Rabat from May 24-26.
The winners were presented with awards of up to 90,000 MAD in the following categories: PUBG Mobile, League of Legends, and EA FC 24.
Nisrine Souissi, Head of the Expo, stated that the video game tournaments were organized at the exhibition to demonstrate to visitors and foreign investors the existence of a vibrant gamers’ community in Morocco.
“The platform was a resounding success, thanks to the venue’s architectural design, the players’ exceptional skills, and the event’s meticulous organization,” Souissi stated.
She highlighted that the Morocco Gaming Expo hosted 70 Moroccan exhibitors and 50 international speakers and experts on the conference platform.
The show provided a platform for Moroccan startups and companies to connect with international gaming industry competitors, to establish partnerships, and to strengthen ties with industry players. It also facilitated the promotion of start-up initiatives in the sector, particularly for young entrepreneurs.
The exhibition featured a series of seminars, round tables, and training sessions overseen by leading experts in the field. The topics addressed included “Rabat Gaming City,” “The Video Game Industry: Trends and Prospects,” “Video Games in the Entertainment Industry: A New Paradigm,” and “Building a Video Game Ecosystem: Keys to Success.”
Abdelaziz El Bouzdaini, Secretary General of the Communication Department at the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication; Japanese game developer Takaya Imamura, the exhibition’s guest of honor; and a host of players from the gaming industry—along with media representatives—all attended the ceremony.
