Morocco strongly condemned and denounced the Israeli army raid against a camp sheltering more than 100,000 displaced Palestinians near the city of Rafah, which resulted in the death of dozens of civilians and left many others wounded, and which was in flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.
An official source at the Foreign Affairs Ministry spoke out on this matter. “The Kingdom, whose King Mohammed VI is Al-Quds Committee Chairperson, stresses the importance of complying with the decision of the International Court of Justice calling on the immediate cease of Israeli military operations in Rafah to guarantee protection for Palestinians and ensure the safe and unhindered delivery of large-scale humanitarian aid and relief supplies to the Gaza Strip via all crossing points, including the Rafah crossing.”
Israel targeted Palestinians on Sunday night when it bombed tent camps in northern Rafah, areas within the Gaza Strip that were “said to be safe.”
Bombs hit the Tal as-Sultan camp, which was housing thousands of displaced Palestinians, as well as other areas including Jabalia, Nuseirat, and Gaza City, killing at least 160.
Palestinian journalist Motaz Azaiza reported that the attack occurred after the Israeli Knesset approved a preliminary reading of a law designating “UNRWA” as a “terrorist organization.”
Morocco had previously denounced the Israeli Defense Forces’ attack on Palestinians who had been waiting to receive humanitarian aid on Al-Rashid Avenue in the northern Gaza Strip.
