Moroccan football star Hakim Ziyech won a title for his team this year, clinching the Turkish Super Lig title with Galatasaray, and edging out Konyaspor (3-1) on Sunday evening in Konya.
Following in the footsteps of Amine Adli at Bayern Leverkusen, Hakimi with Paris Saint-German and others, the Atlas Lion has been in fine form this season, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in 23 appearances for Cimbom.
Argentinian player Mauro Icardi opened the scoring for the visitors in the 29th minute, before doubling the lead in the 51st minute. Berkan Kutlu scored the third and final goal for the Stambouliotes in the 53rd minute.
The hosts had to make do with a single goal from Danish player Louka Prip.
Galatasaray finished top of the Turkish championship with 102 points, followed by Fenerbahçe (99 points) and Trabzonspor (67 points), while Konyaspor was 16th with 41 points.
The Istanbul club won the Turkish championship for the 24th time in its history and for the second time in succession.
In Early May, Galatasaray confirmed that the Moroccan midfielder would stay on its roster after Chelsea, Ziyech’s initial team, had sent a letter notifying him that his contract expires this summer.
Apparently, Chelsea made Hakim’s potential transfer overly complicated, with aims for him to join An Nassr and Paris Saint Germain last summer–while keeping him on the bench despite his exceptional performances–both with the club and the national team.
Ziyech struggled to arrive at the Turkish club last August after a long-standing conflict with Chelsea’s administration and coach.
Ziyech has played 107 games for Chelsea since leaving Dutch Club Ajax and joining the English football club in 2020. The transfer cost Chelsea 33.3 million pounds.
