Morocco’s national amputee football team has advanced to the final of the African Amputee Football Cup of Nations (AFCON), held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, after defeating Nigeria 6-2 at the Petrosport Stadium on Saturday.
The Moroccan team will take on their Ghanaian counterparts, who beat Algeria, on Monday.
A total of 13 teams, divided into 4 groups, participated in this year’s competition: the host Egypt, Nigeria, Burundi, Liberia, Morocco, Uganda, Ghana, Gambia, Algeria, Kenya, Angola, Tanzania and Sierra Leone.
With remarkable performances throughout the continental tournament, Morocco has secured a place in the next World Cup for amputees, scheduled for 2026.
