Morocco’s Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Ait Taleb, met with Ambassador of Italy to Morocco Armando Baruccoand on Thursday in Rabat to enhance collaborative opportunities between Morocco and Italy in health and social protection.
During the meeting, Head of the non-profit charitable organization “Mama Sofia,” Zakia Seddiki, presented the Foundation’s “Mama Sofia: Reducing Distances in Care” project to the Minister.
The Mama Sofia project seeks to establish a partnership between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and this charity, which provides social protection and health care for children in difficult situations, particularly homeless children worldwide, and especially in African countries.
An Italian delegation and Mama Sofia Foundation partners attended the meeting, along with others.
The Health Ministry announced in a press release, “This meeting is part of the bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and Italy in several areas, particularly in encouraging and fostering fruitful cooperation in the health and social protection sector.”
The parties discussed mechanisms by which to enhance partnership in public health and improve medical care between the two countries, including acquiring non-invasive portable devices for monitoring vital signs licensed for medical use, establishing a platform for remote medical consultations, exchanging images and clinical documents, creating dedicated electronic portals for data collection and analysis, and managing alerts, as well as interactive applications for patient engagement. Additionally, they discussed establishing a platform for professional healthcare training and enhancing capacities in healthcare provision and services.
“Mama Sofia” Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization established in 2021, dedicated to children experiencing challenging situations, particularly homeless children. The foundation aims to protect the human, civil, social, and political rights of minors and of economically and socially deprived youth–especially those at risk in nations undergoing transitional economic phases–as well as those residing in underdeveloped or developing countries.
