Morocco’s diplomatic mission in Moscow on Wednesday dismissed claims that it had issued a document urging Moroccan students in Saratov city to “show restraint” in the face of search and arrest warrants allegedly issued by local authorities in Saratov against Moroccan students in connection with instances of “fraud and swindling.”
In an alert to the Moroccan community yesterday, the Embassy stated, “The Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Moscow wishes to alert the Moroccan community residing in the Russian Federation about a false document attributed to the Embassy and currently circulating on social networks.”
The embassy asserted that the document, dated May 17, is a “fake.”
In the fabricated document, the Embassy allegedly stated that the Russian authorities had the right to arrest and expel students without checking with the Kingdom’s diplomatic representation.
No further information was released by the embassy or by local news outlets as to if such arrest instances had really taken place lately or not.
