Morocco’s National Amputee Football Team has now qualified for the quarterfinals of the African Amputee Football Cup of Nations, which runs in Egypt’s capital Cairo through May 27. This news comes on the heels of their Tuesday trouncing of the Liberian team by a 5-0 score at Petrosport Stadium.
The Moroccan team had also shut out Uganda–in a 9-0 annihilation on Monday–in its first encounter in the competition.
A total of 13 teams, divided into 4 groups, are taking part in this year’s competition: the host Egypt, Nigeria, Burundi, Liberia, Morocco, Uganda, Ghana, Gambia, Algeria, Kenya, Angola, Tanzania and Sierra Leone.
Morocco will face their Egyptian opponents today at 7 P.M.
This tournament is a qualifying stage for the forthcoming Amputee Football World Cup, scheduled for 2026.
At the previous edition of the World Cup–held in Istanbul from September 30 to October 9, 2022–the national team placed fifth.
