Morocco and France, through their Ministers of Culture Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid and Rachida Dati respectively, signed a bilateral agreement on Saturday at the Cannes Film Festival, in France, aiming to strengthen cultural and cinematographic collaboration.
The accord is expected to promote joint film production and exchanges between Moroccan and French filmmakers. It also provides for establishing a joint committee, made up of the Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM) and its French counterpart, to monitor this new collaboration.
The ministers met during the festival to discuss ways to strengthen cultural collaboration, notably in cinema and cultural heritage preservation.
During the meeting, Bensaid stressed the significance of increasing joint efforts to protect cultural heritage from misappropriation.
He informed Dati of Morocco’s various tangible and intangible cultural preservation projects, as well as the country’s active participation in UNESCO and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
