Administrator of US Agency for International Development (USAID) Samantha Power is heading to Morocco on a working visit from May 19-22 to promote the US commitment to boosting ties with the Kingdom, one of its oldest friends, as announced by the US embassy in Rabat in a release on Friday.
Administrator Power will meet with government leaders, partner groups, youth, and local communities.
The Administrator will highlight USAID’s collaboration with Moroccan local organizations to advance locally led development, which is crucial to achieving long-term and significant results.
She will also visit villages ravaged by last year’s earthquake to examine firsthand how USAID initiatives are helping Morocco’s continuing recovery efforts.
USAID is an independent agency of the United States government that was created in 1961. It is primarily responsible for administering civilian foreign aid and development assistance. With a budget of over $50 billion, USAID is one of the largest official aid agencies in the world and accounts for more than half of all U.S. foreign assistance—the highest in the world.
