Director-General of the Spanish National Police Francisco Pardo Piqueras described Morocco-Spanish security cooperation as “very effective, particularly in three critical areas: counterterrorism, organized crime, and cybercrime, on Friday in Agadir at the 5th edition of DGSN-DGST Open House.
The two institutions have “important” collaboration in training, which is “fundamental to guaranteeing citizens’ security” in both countries, he stated during his meeting with head of Morocco’s National Police (DGSN) and Territorial Surveillance Services (DGST) Abdellatif Hammouchi.
The Spanish official stated that Spain and Morocco are neighbors and friendly countries that cooperate in various areas, including security.
Security forces and organizations around the world are facing global challenges that can only be adequately addressed through international cooperation, he stated.
He added that the Spanish national police delegation participating in the 5th DGSN-DGST Open House is honored to closely examine Moroccan police’s modernization initiatives.
Hammouchi had met Piqueras earlier this month during the official celebrations of the 200th anniversary of the founding of Spain’s National Police.
This year’s Open House edition is on “National Security: Citizenship and Solidarity.” It started on Friday in Agadir and will run until May 21.
