The Kingdom of Morocco, represented by Justice Minister, Abdellatif Ouahbi, and his counterpart from the Republic of China, Vice-Minister of Justice, Zhao Changhua, signed an agreement yesterday to strengthen and expand cooperation in the areas of judicial cooperation, digital transition, and the social reintegration of prisoners, at a meeting in the Ministry’s headquarters in Rabat.
The agreement initiates a new cooperation roadmap for 2024 to 2025 that will revitalize and strengthen bilateral relations by sharing experience and know-how in various areas of mutual interest.
“The pact demonstrates Morocco’s determination and commitment to capitalize on the judicial cooperation mechanisms between the two countries,” Ouahbi asserted in a statement to the press.
“Morocco’s accession to China’s ‘Belt and Road’ initiative will reinforce the China-Africa partnership and bring growth and prosperity across the board,” he said.
On a working visit to Morocco, Changhua praised the strength of diplomatic ties and collaboration in the judiciary, underlining that the meetings are intended to pave the way for further collaboration.
Changhua, along with a large Chinese delegation, landed in Rabat on Monday and is expected to remain until Saturday. The delegation includes the head of China’s Prison Administration, the director general of the Bureau of Community Corrections, the deputy director general of China’s Ministry of Justice Information Center, and the deputy director of the International Cooperation Bureau.
The delegation is expected to meet with a number of Moroccan dignitaries.
