On Tuesday, King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of FAR, ordered the construction of a new headquarters for the College of Higher Military Education –as it pertains to the order of the day to officers, non-commissioned officers and privates–, on the 68th anniversary of the creation of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR).
The decision to upgrade the institution’s headquarters is part of an effort to improve the overall higher military training system.
The establishment will comprise an integrated university hub, housing all the higher military training schools for officers from the various terrestrial, airborne, and maritime components, along with the Royal Gendarmerie.
The College will provide a comprehensive education in accordance with modern and developed curricula and techniques.
The King has also issued instructions to initiate a comprehensive review of training curricula and military training programs for all military personnel, at all levels–to infuse refreshed pedagogy in light of an ever-changing world–as new and innovative methods in the scientific, technological and artificial intelligence realms become increasingly important.
The monarch indicated specifically that today’s world is experiencing worrying tensions and accelerated and unprecedented transformations, embodied by polarization, the multiplicity of alliances, and the increased likelihood of war in different regions of the globe.
This situation has made it imperative to revise security and defense concepts and to adapt programs and strategies to meet and adapt to these new threats and challenges.
To this end, Morocco is constantly striving to develop the capabilities of the FAR, all components included, and to provide them with all the modern technical means and necessary equipment through training and qualification programs for the human element, while implementing integrated objectives guaranteeing permanent operational readiness and strengthening the nation’s defensive capabilities in all circumstances, added the King.
This anniversary is an occasion to recognize the brilliant vision of the late Mohammed V, who, as soon as Morocco regained its independence, entrusted the late Hassan II–then Crown Prince–with forming the first nucleus of the FAR, as well as the vision of Hassan II and King Mohammed VI for this institution, to modernize and equip its units and to provide it with all the necessary means to defend the nation and preserve its sacred values and achievements.
This occasion also provides an opportunity in which to honor the FAR staff, who assure the implementation of the noble tasks for which this institution was founded on May 14, 1956, such as protecting the Kingdom and contributing to the development of contemporary Morocco.
