Morocco’s Renaissance Berkane (RSB) football team defeated Egypt’s Zamalek 2-1 in the first leg of the final of the African Football Confederation (CAF) Cup at Berkane’s municipal stadium on Sunday evening, securing a foothold in the title race.
Issoufou Dayo opened the scoring for the orange team in the 13th minute, scoring on a penalty kick, before Adil Tahif widened the gap in the 32nd minute.
The Egyptians narrowed the gap through Seifeddine Jaziri early in the second half (46th minute).
After the 2019 CAF cup, which Cairo won on penalties, the Moroccans approached this year’s final with a spirit of tenacity, taking the lead in the second leg and securing a third continental crown, following those of 2020 and 2022.
